Do you regularly dock your phone to your stereo system? Would you like to control the music remotely, via your WiFi network, without having to buy new equipment? If so, Dock & Share may be your solution.

This app gives you the ability to dock one Android phone or tablet to your stereo system, share it on your WiFi network, and then control the music from a separate Android phone or tablet. Browse, search, and play music that exists on either device; view and change the play queue, control the volume, seek through a track, set shuffle & repeat options, etc.

Great solution for an old phone that is just sitting around or has become a kid’s toy; use Dock & Share to WiFi-enable your stereo system.

To get started:

•Open Dock & Share on the device you will be docking to your stereo system, click the WiFi Music Play menu option, and share the device.

•Open Dock & Share from a 2nd device that is connected to the same WiFi network, click the WiFi Music Play option and choose connect to the device you shared in step #1; at that point you’ll be controlling the music playing through your shared device. To disconnect, click the connected icon in the action bar or the WiFi Music Play menu option and disconnect from the device you’re connected to.

•Play Queue – To view the play queue, drag the active song shown at the bottom of the screen to the top of the screen and the play queue will be presented.

•Volume Control – Use your phone/tablet volume keys. If you’re connected to a remote device you’ll be controlling the volume of the shared device; if not connected, you’ll be adjusting the local volume. As of Android 5.0, you can control the volume of the connected/remote device from any screen (including the lock screen). Prior to 5.0, the volume of a remote device can only be controlled while you have the Dock & Share app open.

•Max Volume Control – When docking a phone to your stereo system, set the stereo to the highest volume you want to allow. You’ll be able to take the volume to mute through this application, but no louder than the volume set on the stereo system

•Shared Device – When possible, keep the shared device that is docked to your stereo plugged in to conserve battery strength. In addition, consider turning on the setting to keep the screen on while the device is being shared; this greatly improves WiFi responsiveness on some devices.

Give it a try… It’s free and you’ll have access to most features; including the ability to stream up to 10 songs to the shared device that is connected to your stereo system. Once you've reached that limit, you’ll have the option of upgrading to premium which allows you to stream an unlimited number of songs to the shared device. Please note this limitation does not apply to music that already exists on the docked/shared device.

Requirements: Your WiFi network must support multicast broadcast and cross device connectivity.
